It’s quite cool until the sun comes up, but then…….!
After a latish breakfast we decided to have a wander into
the town. The T.I. office was just up the road so we called in for a, not very
good, map and headed for the centre. Quite a modern town, and remembering this
is now Spain not Morocco, it was quite attractive and the main street was pedestrianized.
Not really sure what we were actually looking for, although bread was on the
list, we sort of got lost but whilst trying to figure out where we were a nice
Spaniard came to our assistance and recommended a walk up to the old town where
there were some historic buildings – which we’d noted from the Rough Guide.
So in the broiling hot sun we toiled our way upwards… well
strolled up the hill to find not very much at all, the only interesting looking
place being behind a barriered gateway, so we sat down at a café and had drinks
and a sandwich, being joined by a chap we’d run into a couple of times,
including at Estapona before crossing to Maroc.
Then back to the van to relax in the sun. On our return we
decided to fill the water tank from the point outside the site and then
relocate from the middle to a space at the edge. Once parked up we were told by
the nice German couple next to us that half of the site was being closed to
motorhomes on Wednesday due to two local festivals, and we were right on the
end of the permitted area.
And that was that for the day. Lots of sunshine and
relaxation, which is what we came for. We’ll try and find out about these
festivals and may stay – alternatively we've decided that Seville is our next
destination and we may move on.
